چکیده

Metal foam is a novel material recently utilized in baffles as an alternative to solid for reducing flow resistance. However, the metal are accompanied by low heat transfer efficiency. To overcome this issue, new design of copper has been suggested research, called having gradient pore density foam. The either increases or decreases towards wall. So, experimental tests were carried out square channel and heated uniformly at bottom wall test section. Its walls mounted fixed porosity 95%. Baffles alternately upon walls' top staggered mode. results determined various kinds (10 20) pores per inch (PPI), was with order decreasing (DPPI) 10/20 PPI increasing (IPPI) 20/10 window cut ratio 25% constant flux 4.4 kW/m2 . Reynolds number changed from 3.8x104 5.4x104 data conventional used compare influence type. obtained revealed enhancement thermohydraulic performance DPPI (10/20 PPI) higher than all models baffles.

Thermal-Hydraulic Performance of Metal Foam Heat Exchangers

Due to their large surface-area-to-volume ratio and tortuous structure, metal foams hold promise for heat transfer applications. Both of these factors increase the heat transfer by enhancing the mixing and surface area. The main disadvantage associated with their thermal-hydraulic performance is relatively higher pressure drop, resulting in larger pumping power requirements if they are used in ...

Effect of Corrugated Baffles on the Flow and Thermal Fields in a Channel Heat Exchanger

The performance of corrugated baffles inserted in a rectangular channel heat exchanger is investigated. The fluid flows and thermal distribution are determined via numerical simulations. The working fluid has a shear thinning behavior. The influence of the baffle design is explored, we interest to the “wavy” shape. The corrugation angle of baffle (α) is changed from 0° (i.e. a straight...
